I have a 1950 ford with a 350 chev engine and 350 turbo tranny. The reas is a nine inch ford with 390 gear ratio. I am getting 9 miles per gallon. I have been told to change the rear gears to help the gas problem. I have also been told to put a 700 overdrive tranny in the car to corrdct the gas mikeage. What is the best solution to use to improve the gas consumption. Thanks

Even with those gears, you should be getting better. Start with a good tune up including checking the carb for vacuum leaks.

I have the same combination in my 51 Ford and get about 16 with 3.55 gears.
