My theory

Here's my theory...

--Stephen Andrews's (dodgy's) postings on alternative gay sites. It's strange to our culture, but ultimately, that's his personal lifestyle choice, and he should be able to do whatever he wants. Freedom. But it shows that he has exposure to internet alternative sexuality culture. He has no problem posting a profile on some Bear sites, and some assorted other alternative sexual sites. Plus the production company. He has ties to producers in the industry. The Playboy Playmate. She'll happily participate in Bullrun to promote her career. But on one condition. If she's driving around in a small car with a guy for a week, he better be gay.

--The questionable rust lines. Inducing rust? Old-timey "real" badboy hotrodders love a rusty ride.

--Richard's ties to Bullrun. He's the Bullrun "Impresario". Not only does he have the badboy image, but they know that he knows how to play by the rules of television. Look at how he obeys the producers in this video: Bullrun Impresario. By the way, he didn't drive that rat rod in the Bullrun rally, he drove a BMW 7-series. The rat rod was for show, to associate the "real" hotrodding market with the "Luxury Lifestyle" porn-fueled world.

--The Honest trademark purchase, and the overuse of the word Honest in Coker blog propaganda. It means something on a semantic level. If anyone here thinks it's done to honor hotrodding tradition, re-think.

--Bullrun ends up at the Playboy Mansion. I wonder if it's tied in to the bigwigs in the porn industry.

--The "quickly establishing myself as the anti-Christ of the hot rod world" line. They think that the idiot uncultured hotrodders will go for that tripe. They're disconnected with the masses, they don't know how people truly feel.

--Why won't Coker confirm or deny his participation? We made it extremely obvious that we know what's going on in our It Looks Like article. He tries intimidation. Bullying. He tries to disassociate his name with this by using semantic tricks: "I don't even know Richard Rawlings, we've never met". We school him. He tries to admit association, but he won't do it legally. The closest he comes is: "Gas Monkey should not have used our name". He tries personal attacks. He works in a world where your scripted image is EVERYTHING. The shape of your mustache is more important than most other factors. He thinks that he can win by breaking down my image. It's extremely obvious that a sponsor in a video has some sort of financial tie to the video. He won't confirm or deny. Coker is scared. You can feel the fear flowing beneath his words. He knows we've investigated Stephen Andrews, he's seen our Truth About Dodgy Monkey Media page. He knows we're going to uncover something, and he doesn't want to be in a position where he's claimed responsibility.

--Why won't David Coker show himself? He's not savvy enough, too bumbling. The older brother comes in to take care of the situation instead.

--Coker is the PERFECT sponsor for this. Huge company, plenty of money. Firm ties to SEMA. He's got the tires, his brother's got the wheels. A wheel/tire sponsor combo can be used to accompany ANY vehicle.

--We drop a hint. We say that dodgy needs to get his "head x-rayed". The porn connections start disappearing from the net.

--Why am I willing to put that pic right in the middle of a post, for everyone to see. What am I trying to show to these guys?

--The "Spank My Monkey" pic, posted in large hotrodding forums. Guerilla marketing. Plenty of hype, little money. Same thing with the Anti-Christ video.


Put the pieces together guys, I know you can do this. What does it all mean?

Looks to me like some exploitive marketers saw all the money those greasy hotrodders toss around and decided they should cash in, too, with another get-rich-click scheme. Spammers with thongs and Beemers.

When you look at the old (and now big) company names in performance and custom, you see the results of someone pinpointing a need and then creating a business to fill that need. Isky, Edelbrock, M/T, are examples. Is GMG in that class? I think, from what I've seen, that GMG is in the same class as sellers of magic diet pills and water-burning carbs -- whatever you can sell to the suckers, in whatever way they'll swallow it, is just fine so long as you take the money and run.

wow jon, knew you had to have a reason to keep harping on this, but you could have knocked me over with a feather.didnt see that coming at all.the photos seemed a little sick to me , but i had no idea.makes you wonder what else is going on that we dont know about

--And what's up with all the joking around? Why am I putting so much effort into generating these parody pics that make people laugh so hard that milk comes out their noses? Why don't I just email the guys in charge of this, and tell them what we think? Also, if I want to contact automotive marketers, why don't I just write a simple email to them? Why point them to our funny material? What's the point, isn't it just wasted effort? Why did I learn how to use video editing software (a steep learning curve) just to make this one video?

--And, why don't I just tell you exactly what dodgy and Corky Coker are doing here, what it's all about? Why don't I just take all the evidence, and prove the point while everyone watches and agrees? I have a reputation for being straightforward on these forums. Why play around? Why do I insist that you figure it out on your own?

Like I said before, Coker is not going to come out and make a public decree one way or the other. He tried to subtly disassociate himself with the situation and when that didn't work is most likey conferring with a legal team on how to proceed from here. It is possible that Coker had no idea this was going to happen, and is now on damage control.

What does it all mean? I think that this is simple, unadulterated mass media marketing of products, events and lifestyles using word associations to add credibility while preying upon the natural good tendancies of most people. While distasteful it is definately not illegal (note: no charities mentioned by name). This is exactly why I will not do business with the named companies or their affiliates until they publicly take responsibility for their actions.

I want to hear from some of our guys with more than 5 posts, and who didn't just register here 12 days ago.

There's a really important reason that Corky Coker won't admit his involvement in this, even though it's blatantly obvious that he's connected. What's the reason?

And re-watch the video that they posted. It's different than the original one that they posted.

With the baby boomer's becoming empty nester's their disposable income is now being used for toys. Many of our generation are getting back into hot rods. Many are reliving their youth by building cars they built or would have liked to own when they were growing up. Many of the street rodders who built cars so they and their families could enjoy cars together are looking towards hot rods as a more simple type of ride. Thus the number of old school builds. The manufacturers have noticed this trend (probably 10 years old now) but have just caught on. The baby boomer's and hot rod kulture guys have just about exhausted the original speed parts and wheels, etc. and prices on these parts have gone sky high. Enter the repop guys. Fill a market. But it is not enough to fill a market but you have to create a bigger market to be really successful. Coker Tire was not happy enough with selling tires to antique guys but wants the hot rod guys as well. Thus Honest Charley's and Newstalgia Wheels. How do you advertise to these guys that are building old school in the new hot rod kulture? You get the anti christ to market to them. This is what we see happening here and other places as well.

And, here I thought that the "Rat Rod" and "Old Skool" stuff was just for hotrodders that were poor (like me) and cheap (also like me).....................It turns out that corperate America is trying to cash in on that one too............Hope that they rot.

Even though I am poor, and cheap, I still prefer to paint my cars, rather than let them rust. Also, I keep my thong in the privacy of my own bedroom.................Whoops, that one slipped........................ :D

It's too bad you feel that way.
I was in the process of posting my credentials and some sage advice as to beating these clowns at their own game.

But hey what do I know...

By the way I've lurked for over a year and registered in Jan 2006 after I felt comfortable with the enviroment.

Thanks for enlightening me...
