A question about a gas tank in the trunk of a Model A. Should I put an inline shutoff first thing out of the tank? I plan on putting an inline filter close to the tank before the electric pump. I'm going to use a short rubber hose on each side of the pump. I could use a short hose before the filter and use any of the hoses to crimp closed for a shut off down line. If it is suggested to plumb one to the tank what should I use? thanks Bob

If the hose is coming out of the top of the tank there is no need for a shutoff valve. Bottom, use a shutoff. When using rubber hose be careful. Today's gas will eat the hose and cause all sorts of problems but you can use fuel injection hose which will stand up to the additives in today's gas. I like to use the newer nylon line but it requires different fittings and special tool to put them together. use 3/8" brake line to do most of the line run. I use the newer nickel/copper line because it's easy to work with and won't rust.
