Anybody have any Gassers out there? I'm building one out of my '69 Chev C-10, really wanted a Willys, but have yet to win the Fl. lottery.

Presently building a Studebaker gasser. Some early photos in my file.

Will be posting more pics soon. Body is presently off frame. Some paint work done, firewall, inner panels, Hugger Orange. Frame is International tractor red. Suspension in. Straight axle, Dodge a-100 spindles, Ford steering in. Rear ladders/crossmembers on, narrowed 9" Ford in.

502 BBC built. 400 long tail trans in the works. Waiting on a 3800 converter.

Just go buy this and DRIVE !!! 28k will bring it home and it's in Lake City FL... I have talked with him a lot and was very near to going there to see it but I'm a few k short of the price and it's not my ideal set up.

Most of them were 2 person business coupes. This particular car has the fuel filler in the right rear fender and was originally a rather rare 4 passenger coupe. It had 2 opposing fold down jump seats, like an extended cab S10. He has sent me a number of pics and you couldn't build it for nearly twice the price. If I had the funds, I would drive down and see it in person.

my 55 210 gasser

Here's a pic of my 55 chevy 210 gasser , we just finished the body work and paint , it has a straight axle out of a 56 dodge truck and being powerd by a bbc 396 with muncie m21

Good deal, love the 210s. What type of steering setup did ya use, did the stock '55 box work w/cross steer?

im planning on using a flaming river plain jane steering column , I have a manual S-10 steering box from another project with a double u joint solid steering conection shaft that has a 1" D end that goes to the column. i mocked up the steering box when i was figuring the lenghth for the column it looks close to what i can use .

A S-10 box? Tradtional steering?Cant picture what that box looks like. I've got a box off a Astro I was thinkin about, came close to buying a box off a '66 Nova at the swap meet today,55bucs, but mount seem to low. I think a box off a '55 sedan is gonna be my best bet for cross steer.

s10 box

This is a pic of the manual S-10 box and steering shaft with the universals. This will mount onto the inside of the frrame rails I need to make a custom steel plate to bolt it to then to the frame rail i may have to change the small arm on the box but wont know for sure till i get the steering column mounted i mocked it up awhile ago with the old stock column and it looks like it should work , my orig plan was to buy a vega steering box but fig i would try to make do with what i had laying around 1st.

I gotcha' ya. I'm gonna hav'ta mount mine on the outside. Where I welded the spring hangers was right where the stock box was bolted to. at first I thought I could use trad. steering til I found out more about bump steer,you think a '55 style box about mid spring crossed over to the pass. side would be fairly smooth?

I ended up using a Ford Mustang type box for my straight axle cross steer. Ford box puts the pitman arm further down to relieve the angle on the steering rod. See photo in my file.

Im not sure ? when I got my car it had the stock box the steering shaft wouldnt come out plus it had a ton of slop in it so i junked it it seemed bigger then what my s10 one is.

Talkin to my older brother,seems like those S-10 manual boxs are sought after, everybody talks about the Vega & corvar boxs,but I dont see it.

steering box

yes i heard they wer getting hard to find. i bought this one about 6 years ago on ebay . I was looking at it and the car last nite i may wind up making a cross steer set up . that way it will work better .

I would love to see a C10 Gasser, I don't see a lot of Gasser trucks unless it is a Willys.

s10 steering box mocked up

here is a pic of the s10 steering box mocked up. I made this a cross steer set up , im not a expert at this lol but it looks like it should work out fine and all lincages will be clear of the oil pan . The last piture shows how the rod end lines up to the steering box arm .

Hay Guys, jus got back from bike week in Daytona, INSANE, cant wait to get back to work so I can get some rest. Your getting closer everyday to seeing one MXrider13, when I started this ride, I was serchin for a Willys Coupe only I hav'nt won the Fl. Lottery yet. I've owend this '69 for 30yrs now,its been a show truck, low rider, drag racer, work truck,tow truck-Calf and back home a few times (thats when I was messin with sand cars) I was hopeing to have it ready for the Turky Run at the speedway,thats probly not gonna happen.We'll take the '54 and still have a good time.It'll be ready for the spring car shows tho.Not actuly period piece, but I like how its turning out.
