I just bought a 74 Camaro and it has gas spraying out both exhaust pipes when you rev it. Stats: 350 with 4 bl quadraject, headers, flowmaster duel exhaust with x-over, heads have been rebuilt, HEI distributor. Compression check ranged from 145 - 155. Engine has a light grey/blue smoke coming out both pipes and smell very gassey. When you rev it the ground gets very wet. My water level is fine and my oil looks normal. The engine (minus the heads) has alot of miles on it.

That's probably not gas...it's condensation. Engines produce huge amounts of water, most of it evaporates in the exhaust system. That's why your muffler rots out from the inside.

Don't worry about it....it goes away when the car warms up good.

The extreme gas spell from the exhaust didn't go away until I replaced the Qjet carb with a Holley. Now it runs better and don't smell. Thanks for your input.
