Just wondering what to expect out of the car:

1978 Trans am, Automatic

Known mods:

Edelbrock 800 cfm carb
Edelbrock intake manifold
Straight pipes, no cats - sorry don't know diameter
K&N filter on the shaker
brand new spark plugs/wires

I believe they are stock gears, 2.73?

Nobody is going to be able to answer your question like you are wanting. There is simply too many variables that you have left out to even get reasonably close. Its like someone asking a computer technician "Will this program run on my computer, it has a 40gig hd and a 17" monitor". Just not enough information. Your best bet is to spend $20 and take it to a strip and find out. Its a lot more fun that way too. Even if you only have an 1/8th mile strip to play on, that would allow the guys here to make a better determination on your 1/4's.

It's the RPM series manifold.

Oh yea, and the AC is deleted.

I just wanted a general estimate.


Edit: It has BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires on 9 inch rims.
Edit again: I didn't even mention it was the 400ci 6.6L

Id be curious to know the displacement of the engine, if any head work has been done, valve size, compression, if it has headers, type of manifold.

Sorry let me just rewrite everything:

Pontiac 400ci engine
AC deleted
Edelbrock 800cfm carb
edelbrock RPM series manifold
straight pipes (not sure of diameter)
K&N filter
Turbo 350 transmission
9 inch wide BF goodrich radial T/A tires

Stock gears, not sure what they are. Someone said 2.73 while some other site said 3.23. I'm thinkin 3.23's

Cam specks duration @ .050", lift, lobe center, lobe separation.
Carburation,
type of intake ( dual or single plenum etc)
head work
size valves
headers or no
compression

I can get you in the ball park on your hp but my drag race program wont work on my pc. The program is DOS based and it wont work on XP.

sounds like a mostly stock setup? I think that carb is probably way overkill for the motor...

Well i'm not actually sure if it's 800cfm anymore. Either way it's more than enough for the power.

I believe it is stock 400ci internals. Stock headers, but straight pipes. It's like 8.1 compression.

a way over carbed engine with little in the way of mods, straight pipes,heavy car, i'd venture a guess at about 16.5 sec/quarter just slightly faster than a propane powered k-car with the breather flipped.
just funnin , but i can't see it being a lot faster unless there's another story to be told under the valve covers.mike

Yea we can only hope. We can only see what was done on the outside lol

Assume it's not overcarbbed, i probably just ****ed up the specs. I don't know the CFM of this aftermarket one.

They ran like a 15.3 stock right?

Hey guys im the one that owns the car. from what i can tell, it has

a holly carb. ( i dont know the CFM on it)

Edelbrock performer rpm manifold

pipes( no cats)

ac delete

th350 tranny

its the pontiac 400ci 6.6l engine (engine was pulled from a 1974 pontiac)

stock cam

and from what i know, stock everything else.

I would also guess mid 15's. Basically, think about how fast you hope it is, and then add a full second. Cars are never as fast as we think/hope.
