Greetings, seeking some advice from some Ford engine builders. I have a nice standard bore 1968 Ford 302 that I just acquired. I will be rebuilding it. My question is: Will the newer GT40P heads fit and take an older 4v carb intake with no other modifications? This will be a daily driver, mild cam, flat top piston build. I do not foresee any issues, has anyone else done this head swap with good results? Are the head bolts and valvetrain compatible, I know pushrods are different length from roller to flat tappet cam, any other issues?.

IIRC it is a excellent upgrade and the only concern is the angled plugs may not clear headers or manifolds

I would use the head bolts with the hardened insert to fit the larger hole in the head to the bolt hole. Valvetrain for the GT40 heads will be needed.

I did a 78 302 with GT40 heads and a mildish flat tappet. It ran well with no special parts. I think it had factory manifolds too.

It appears that the head bolts are the same as a regular 302 and not 1/2 inch like a 351W.
