I have 1986 silverado with a 12 bolt rearend and 700r4. Got the truck the end of february and every since I always get a hard shift when going from park to drive or park to reverse, Pretty much anytime taken out of gear. Whats the problem and how can it be fixed?

I need a little clarity .... does the trans "bang" into gear (reverse or forward) when shifted from park?

or is the trans hard to shift out of park?

it bangs in to gear whenever you shift out of park. Usually harder into reverse

What is your RPM's at idle ??? Sounds like you might be Idling to high..

Not sure. No tach.

Try backing down on the idle, and see if that helps...

Thats not a sign of my rearend going out is it? What is a sign of rear end problems

I would check your u-joints.. And make sure that isn't the noise your hearing..

They been replaced. New drive shaft and tranny but this occurred before engine and tranny swap

Might just be binding. Set the parking brake before you put it in park and see what happens.
