Decent article about the 8.5" rear, but you have an 8.2" rear. There is an 8.5" housing used in mid '71 and '72 Chevelles but it is hard to find because they were still also using the 8.2" depending on what plant was building the car and what their inventory was. This rarer 8.5" is hard to find but it will bolt in to your Monte. Study up on how to tell them apart in the wrecking yard.
