i installed my head unit in the trunk for various reasons, just running to two 6x9's nothing fancy with no amp. the unit has a remote but has a range of like 4"s! so i cant control the volume from inside the car, i can manually increase it but when i turn the car off and back on it defaults to a level so low i cant hear it over the car. so i was thinking and old school EQ maybe? is there such a thing as a universal car audio remote? the remote is debit card size with a watch battery and no range at all? or some type of volume control knob/switch?

you can adjust the default volume...
on most anyways.. I'd read the manual and see if yours allows that..

i'll have to google that i think, the unit came with the car so theres no manual but i will check that out for sure...

i found it and set the default to a higher level thanks! i think i might just toggle switch it as well so that i can turn it off while driving too.

if the model is somewhat new 2000 up..
a lot of these have a mobil phone mute .. so when the mobil phone was picked up the radio muted..
some headunits this is an orange wire.. but google your unit to make sure..
and iirc all you need is a switch and it hook to ground.. but check..
on my clarion pro this wire is orange.. can't remember what it is on my kenwood.. but most made for the last 10 years have this function..
