hey..hiya doin'...... i've got a 1968 327,built....60 over, forged flattop pistons, heads were redone ....the casting # on the heads is 3917291 ....are these good heads?? to my knowledge they are the *large camel-humps* ...I will be putting in a herbert solid lifter cam .. .518/.536 .. power range with this cam is 2500 to 7000rpm. can these heads handle this cam?? engine also has a weind xccelater single plane intake with a 2" aluminum spacer and a edelbrock 750 carb, compression ratio was estimated yesterday around 10.1 - 11.1 ...runs best on 116 octane gas ... just need to know if these heads are good ones or not ....thanks

Check for coil bind at the springs.

If the valvesprings are new and upgraded, your valvetrain will be a lot more reliable.

At 10 to 11:1, 116 octane gas is too much. Only run the octane you need to avoid detonation. You will do more harm than good running too high. If there is no detonation present don't run higher octane.

I am at 11:1 with cast iron heads. I get away with 91 octane gas.
