So when i was dropping the v8 into my s10 i broke the rotor on the distributor (cap was removed) so my question is, do all HEI distributors use the same cap and rotors? Coil located in cap

GM hei dist. are generally the same physical size but there are levels of quality.
OEM, high performance coils and foreign made junk.

I assumed that you were referring to GM hei products or OEM replacements.
Can't tell you about aftermarket stuff.

Just make sure you don't get the low grade cheap stuff, ask for brass pole cap and rotor. The cheap **** have aluminum poles, corrode quicker!

Accel makes a cap and rotor kit , it has brass terminals

as long as you get one for a chevy v8 engine and not any other
make (olds/catty/etc)
#8122 is tan # 8123 is black cap.

Every GM factory style V8 HEI uses the same cap and rotor.
