I have a 54 ford car 239 eng. trying to put a 1960 ford dist. will this work in this 239? the 239 has got a slot dist.rod in it now so i fount a hex rod that will work in the 1960 dist. how long will it need to be to work??? can i put the dist. in a see how it needs to be to fit on the oil pump it is 8'' long. the gear on the 60 dist.is bigger will the old one fit back on it too?

it was a 289 ford eng. 1960

If your 289 distributor uses an O-ring to seal it, the conversion can work. You will need to replace the 289 gear. If your car is 6V, the condenser will need to be changed to a 6V one for the 289 distributor, I believe.
