I am an old guy who just inherited a cherry 87 Chevette 2 door. I would like to turn this into a street rod. I am willing to "back half" the car, tub out the rear wheel wells, and get the appropriate narrowed rear end to handle whatever horsepower the swapped in engine might make. I am leaning against a V-8 because of weight distribution problems. It would seem I am left with the 60 degree or the 90 degree V-6 engine families from GMC and whatever rear wheel drive transmissions are available for those engines. I have little familiarity with these engines and transmissions so I expect to be asking questions in the future. Hello and good wishes, I hope some of the members here can be of help to me.
