Hey Everyone!

I just joind the hotrodders, because i have a 1950 Dodge Cornet that i am rebuilding and trying to find new parts for. Its also nice to know that if im stumped on something i can just post it and get help quickly. I'm hoping i won't have to use this website much but im sure i will. So ill apreciate it if everyone is patient with me, because this is my first of hopefully many rebuilders.

Thanks

Howdy! :welcome:

I own a 1950 Dodge Coronet Club Coupe as well as a 1952 Dodge Diplomat Coupe. I haven't begun to work on either one of them but my intentions, limited by financial restraints, is to update the drivetrain and steering and brakes as inexpensively as possible.

I built a 1937 Plymouth two-door sedan streetrod decades ago so I'm familiar with what's involved in updating old iron but, I haven't figured out exactly the course of action to take on either of the Dodges.

I have been considering putting the '50 on an extended cab S-10 Chevy pick-up frame because the wheelbase is within about 2" between the two. But, a frame swap is quite a bit of work and two of the drawbacks that concern me are that a means to mount the front sheet metal and radiator needs to be fabricated, and, the rear frame rails of the truck chassis supposedly end up in the trunk area of the car body with isn't appealing to me and would require quite a fit of fabrication.

I would be satisfied with upgrading the original front steering and brakes and I think that simply replacing the rear differential with a more modern one would be a relatively easy task. I don't know what should replace the original engine and transmission though.

If I decide upon and implement any upgrades I'll try to let you know about them.

Hi guys- if you check my album you'll find my 1950 Plymouth coupe- very similar to what you are dealing with I believe... first time around I used original suspension- but it left a lot to be desired!! I am now finishing a Mustang II sub/power rack disc brakes and will install a Cad 500 (when I finally get time!!!) the shop has taken over with projects like those in my journal!! Happy to help with anything or' bench race' about the old '50's Dodges/Plymouths... later- the Dragon
