Hey Everyone,
Im new to this forum, and I found it because I am trying to find information about my 1983 chevy s10. I just got it not to long ago, and I am having trouble figuring out what one of the lights means in the dashboard. The lights are in the center, It goes BRAKE on the bottom, than the CHECK ENGINE light is above that, and then there is another symbol on top. It is not a word, but it looks something like this. l / l It looks something like that with a dot in the middle of the diaganal line. Im stumped on what this symbol could represent, and now it stays on when I start up the truck. I looked all over the net to get an answer, but I have found nothing. I thought it might be the oil light, but I was mistaken when I put oil in and the light still comes on. Please, anyone that has an answer or an idea of what it may be, help. I need to find out so I can correct the problem so it will not come on anymore! Thanks a bunch to whoever has taken the time to read this.

Just a wild guess but that symbol looks like a choke. I don't remember anything like that but after being in thousands of cars I may have forgotten. If it is the symbol for a choke it would naturally go off in a minute or two after a cold start. Check your choke to see if it is opening fully after a couple minutes.

Welcome, that would be your automatic choke light. It should come on for a shrt time after a cold start but it should also go out in a short time also. If it is staying on you need to get your choke fixed.
