Hay there, im a new member, and i am looking at buying a 78T/A with a 400HO/HP auto. this car is in kinda $h!%%y condition, i have 60 pics of her, but it seems a bit overkill to post them all...but anyways. The car is a gold car (i dont think a Y88 or 50 car) but perhaps. and i was thinking of changing the interior out to a black one, like the one that the bandit has. the floor pans are rusted through to an extent, dash is cracked, so is console, seats are in bad cond't t-tops are ehh...and back seats are decent, the back dash is all cut up...and the trunk...well i cant get into her, but i will assume the worst and say she is rusted also(but the pics i took underneath say that is it ok). Just wondering on who thinks what about the interior...pricing, ideas, etc.

also, do you think i should persue this car (hasent been started in 2 yrs...parts off the motor have been taken off for another T/A, it could run in the condition its in(so im told)...but theres no starter, and many hoses and wires are missing. lost of rust on bolts and such, paint is bad, some body rust...much undercarage rust and corrosion. they are asking 3900 for her (do you think that it would be feesiable to try to negoatiate down to a more reasonable price?))?

hehe, those were my sentiments when i saw the price, but i have been looking for almost a year or so, so im desperate...but not stupid yet. so i think im gonna try to get it down to arround 1250 but if i cant, there are other cars out there.

Are you looking for this car specfically or are you just looking for a T/A. I'll admit my T/A knowledge is limited but I would think you could make a clone for alot cheaper than buying that original

I have restored several Pontiacs and they are expensive. Firebird's & Trans Am's of the mid 70's & up do not hold a high value unless they are some kind of special model. A 69 T/A , that would be a bargin in any condition. A 78 T/A, 400-auto, T-top's & A/C are at current running $5,900 which are driveable cars in need of restoration, $10,800 in excellent condition un-restored. Those are current NADA Classic Car Prices.
You need on any of these old cars before buying them inspect the trunk area to make sure the shock mounting area is not rusted away. Rotted out that's a major & expensive job.
Offer them $900 for it.
Like raid magic said you can buy one & clone it a lot cheaper.

well, thats what im planning on doing...cloning one to be a black/gold edit car. Though today i have found out more info on the car from the mechanics that work at the dealer (they will always be honest, they have nothing to lose by it) so im gonna offer them a little less than 900, that way if they feel like negoatiating, then i have some room to work with. but also, when you say clone (again, remember im still new to the whole thing) do you mean that i get somthing like a formula and turn her into a t/a that i want, or just get a regular t/a and change her into a t/a that I want. but thanks for the tips.

By clone I mean either of the two you have stated above. Check out this site here They have T/a's out the wazoo. Maybe you could strike a deal and get it shipped for what that guy is asking for his by you.

well, danka. but, texas is quite a distance to ship a car to me...but its a thought.i still havent given up on ones arround here.
