heater

not exactly familar with your heater but most are the same and consist of a small radiator and fan inside the housing. If the fan is not working very well it may be the electric motor or the electrical plugs so i can only suggest you clean the plugs up etc. as for the heat, firstly check that the cable on the heat control side is opening the control tap normally located near to the heater unit or sometimes further away but it will be the only tap with a cable on it, if this is opening fully the small radiator inside the heater unit is probably blocked with sludge, this is very common, to clean it out you take off both the radiator hoses and flush it both ways with a hose, sometimes this is sufficient other times you need to use something with a bit more flow like a high pressure hose. Make sure both hoses are off and flush both ways, it can take a while. Check that the unit is sealed around the exit vents and that the air is not leaking out prior to coming out the vents etc

thanks. i just discovered my blower is actually working when it is NOT in high. other sites tell me this means my 72 camaro needs a new high speed heater relay. also tho, i have a @#12 orange wire going towards my blower. it has a rubber female spade connector on it. i dont know where it goes or what it does. apparently it doesnt work the blower since i have fan goining at med.hi, med, and low speeds.

It is inside the heater box,it closes off air from th eoutside coming in.It is the fresh air vent door.It must be working correctley if you do not feel a rush of cold air on your feet. There may be a vacum servo on the bottom of the box.I thought my 76 and 78 both had manual operators. My 79 Malibu has the vacum though and it is all wacked out.Like Mr Ed stated back flush the heater core, take the lines off at the Bypass and intake, blow through them,it may ytake a second to get the coolant out,use a bucket so you do not splash that slick stuff on that $10,000 paint job though.Use mouth not compressed air. That way you can feel the resistance. If it is hard like blowing up a beach ball, the core is plugged and needds replaced. If you can blow through with no reisitance it is fine.

haha, i dripped some on it checking the protection level but wiped it off. i was wondering to myself if anti-freeze would screw up the paint.
anyway it does heat. just not on high speed. i'm sure i need a hi speed relay as above.
i'm just wondering about a couple other things. the orange wire with the spade connector on it under the hood near the blower motor and the vacuum line on the inside of the car near the center hanging down with a red stripe on it.
