ebay has a few Sata nr95 for around $200.00 . I have two of these over 8 years old, they both get used every day and have been rebuilt twice. If there was a paint gun hall of fame it might be the best base coat gun ever built. A used one is worth more than three new cheaper guns.

IMO and just 1 step above rank amateur, have had good luck with these:

Devillbiss Finishline lll = good :)
Sharpe Finex FX300 = better :D

Others swear by the Harbor Freight 43430 purple gun, others swear at it - it is an air hog but works well within its design

How much CFM does your compressor have? If you are looking at HVLP you need, in my opinion, about 16cfm. You can get an Astro LVLP which is an Iwata knock off pretty cheap, like about $100 from Tool Paradise. I bought an Astro with a 1.9 tip for shooting primer, it is a Sata knock off, and it is a great gun for the money. If you can use an RP gun, the Devilbiss GFG plus is also a great value form Tool Paradise for about $270. Al

The Iwata is well worth the money. Even if you only paint one car, and then sell it, you will get most of your money back. The time and material $aving$ are worth it.

Lately just painting body parts, but the reviews I have got sold me on this gun. and yes saving material is key for me considering I like top notch work with little investment. We all know good paint isn't cheap and I cant afford to waste it. Looking to purchase after x mas. Gonna be re painting my tailgate on the dodge pictured Im in the process of shaving the tailgate handle and putting on an after market front bumper that I will have to paint. Also some paint work on my s10. Thanks Aaron.

Check with the local paint stores as they get good used guns in all the time.
I picked up a LPH-400LV 1.4 for $190.00
They had 4 guns for sale, and they were Sats's & iwata's and in great shape.

Eastwood has the Devilbiss Startingline on sale for $135 now. That's for a primer gun and a bc/cc gun.

I'm nearly ready to spray primer just on the body shell of my 34 Plymouth. I'm going to work on just one door or fender at a time over the next year to get each piece in primer. This will be my first attempt at painting. I plan to use House of Kolor products.

Any thoughts on this gun set?

An excellent consideration would be the Sharpe Platinum, I have one and I must say lays down metallics flawlessly. It uses a 2000 air cap for metallics and a 3000 air cap for clears. The best part is it only uses 7.5 cfm of air. A very tough gun to beat for the money.

The Devillbiss Finishline lll is a better Chinese made gun and is available elsewhere on the internet for less. Yes, I have one, it does OK for primer, and it is Chinese made

There are also several good Sharpe guns available as well. Much nicer - my low ender appears to have been made in Minneapolis.

Eastwood has many unique items, but, quite frankly, their prices IMHO, for standard automotive tool items is so far out of line it's laughable. It's the high cost of advertising.

Iwata and Sata's aren't cheap, but sometimes you can find a deal.

I have a Sharpe Titanium cg 1 and I love it. I also bought the HVLP cap for it so I use the HVLP for base and the compliant for clear..Pretty good system. I am using the 1.3 tip and with the compliant cap it lays down clear as good as any medium priced gun............GlennK
