it's a 99 F250, 7.3L (turbo) this only happened a couple of times but it bugs me. i hear a hissing noise only in the lower part of the RPM range, but not during idle and not after ~2200 RPM. im thinking it might be a leak from the turbo but to be honest, i haven't looked yet.

any clues?

They were known to have little leaks where the intake tubing meets the sheet metal manifold on the passenger side... but that typically makes a hiss that gets louder and bigger the more pressure you make. Take the soft coupling off and inspect the intake manifold.

Its possible that the leak is only in your audible range at lower rpms. Maybe its still whistling past that point, but its so high pitched you can't hear it.
