Talk about Rube Goldbergh!!!! Hey WORKS right? Nuff said. LOL

Found a cheap way to make a stationary bandsaw for cutting plates for brackets and such. Items required are a stick of 1" square tubing and a $2 garage sale 3-1/2" vise.

$2 vise.

Fabbed up a base.

Made a support bar.

Mounted the vise.

Built the table structure.

Table top scrounged from dumpster at work. 1/8" steel.

Mounted the table top.

Chucked my 6230 in the vise and wahlah...........instant stationary bandsaw!

Now, it's not my idea. Gotta give credit to SWAG Offroad for coming up with the original.

whens the last time you actually saw any foot pedal sewing machines at a garage sale steve=o?
He's talking about the foot pedal that operates a portable electric sewing machine, and you CAN find one at almost every yard sale.

Hardly rated for the load a portable band saw requires.:pain:

Vince
Absolutely true. Not a good idea. The pedal is used on motors of about 1/8th HP, if that.

spring clamp

I use my Milwaukee band saw a lot , both in the stand and hand held. Instead of a zip tie I use a metal spring clamp, clamp on the handle above the trigger, then slide it down to get the speed I want, easy to take off.

Should be able to find a relay or contactor to use with the foot pedal switch.

nice. I got a dewalt last week and tried to copy a swag table but the only scrap I had was aluminum 1/8". It looks ok but not sturdy. I think I'm going to buy the swag table v3 so I can get the miter tracks and miter option. A foot pedal sounds nice too. You might want to get one. They're only around $15 at HF. Thanks for sharing your stand.

So you wire in a relay, kind of takes the intended speed control control off the table.

Don't cha think ?

I'm not sure why speed control is necessary for a saw designed to cut metal to begin with?

Been using my aluminum portaband table for years. Cost was almost nothing, 2 pieces of scrap aluminum, and $1 worth of fasteners.
