What material results in the ultimate cylinder liners?

What material and coating/hardening results in perfect low wear seats for compatibility with steel valves with chrome moly stems?

most factory heads come with hardened inserts i would suggest hardened inserts. they are easy to find and easy to replace!

Cast iron is best for cylnders. That's why so many things with nothing but oil between moving parts are made out of cast iron. It's brittle, but wears great.

What about this Nikasil thing everyone keeps mentioning?

(Bear in mind I'm running a big stroke on a 75degree flatplane crank V8.... producing close to 950lb/ft torque...)

This is the first I ever heard of Nikasil. I read that BMW and Porsche have used it. To me that translates into big $$$$ for the plating process. Weigh that against time proven cast iron and make your decision from there, but learn more about it first.
