Mix according to directions. You have to have the paint and you have to have the reducer along with any other additives. Different manufacturers vary. If you do the frame with POR-15 and spray you also need to have the proper stuff to clean the gun afterwards. As far as using your standard paints for the frame, just ask wherever you buy the materials and they will set you up with everything you need. The only paints that you do not need to reduce is the rattle cans.

I sprayed my 38 chev frame with chassis-black (dropped a full cup on my new white tennis shoes). It is not mixed. Buy it by the gallon at local auto paint store. Put it in your spray cup and let 'er fly. I painted the entire frame and rear-end housing with a gallon (minus the cup I spilled). I used an etching primer before spraying.

When I first painted a car.....(oh, so many, many years ago!!!) I went to my local NAPA and they hooked me up with materials, data sheets, specs and everything. As materials improved I've continued to go to NAPA- (I've been through 4 different salesman ,now!) and they have all been helpful. Just ask, ask, ask and if they don't help go somewhere else that will. Every paint manufacturer has different specs as they are composed of different chemicals. Be safe and spray by the specs!
