67 cutlass with original springs.
How do they tell you when they have had enough?

Current situation - The shocks are old as dirt and probably need replacing. Can push down pretty easily compress spring - when let off it jumps back up but doesnt bounce too much. I assume if boucing bad shocks are way past useful life.

I think I have a little excess lean in they corners - but have no idea what like brand new. Maybe that is the springs?

Ride height is a good indicator. Replacing springs in a 37 year old car wouldn't be too expensive and will be well worth it. (btw, go ahead and replace the shocks with modern gas charged shocks too) You will notice a huge difference in ride and steering response.
