Really need to know more specifics on the cam #'s and cylinder head flow #'s. I can tell you one thing, unless you had the Patriot heads heavily milled and the block zero decked, there is no way you are anywhere close to 9.5-1 compression with a flat top piston. More like 8.25-1. Do you know the actual chamber volume of the heads??

Carb is small for an engine of this size with those heads.

Give us some more info.

Please post the "90% of the time" usage of the truck, along with the cylinder head chamber volume, cam mfg and part number. Looks like a mis-match to me, particularly with the single plane intake if this is a street truck. Depending on chamber volume, waaayyyyy too much cam or waaaayyyy too little static compression ratio, depending on how you look at it. Bottom end will be waaaayyyy soggy. Post up all the details and let us help you.

Since it weights 4000 pounds the PG is not going to help matters any, especially with 3.73 gears. Most of the time when PG`s are used the stall converter is around 4000 and the rear gear is 4.56 or lower. a TH400 would work far better than the PG would in a vehicle that heavy.
