I posted this info on my Keith Black piston thread but thought I'd post a new thread for some thoughts on my build. How much HP/TQ do you think this set up will yield? Do you think it is a good combo? This is my second build.

I have a new standard 4"bore GM block, a forged Lunati standard stroke crank, 58cc cnc ported Brodix track1 heads, Crower forged 5.7 Sportsman con rods, Crower mec. flat tappet cam .545/.554 lift 298/302 duration, procomp 1.6 shaft rockers (which puts my lift to .579/594), HV1000 Brodix intake, and a 850 Holley double pumper.

Do you think these pistons will work well with this set up? (13.9:1 KB forged pistons)

My plan is to keep the car on the track not the street and I may run alcohol.

Is there any links out there for calculating this stuff?

I'd be wondering if the KB pop-ups would fit well in the Brodix chambers and allow good flame propogation across the chamber.

If you'll post the cam timing events (intake open, intake close, exhaust open, exhaust close) along with flow figures on the heads from 0.100" through 0.600", I'll run the combo through my DynoSim.

I took the flow figures from the Brodix web site. They start at .200 int. 150 ex.116 .300 213/150 .400 258/185 .500 285/208 .600 303/219

Maybe I should give Brodix a call and see what they recommend for pistons.

I would expect to see 560-580 hp, maybe up to 600+ if on alky. Going to need 4500 stall minimum with 3-speed, 5000 with a glide for best track times. 4.56-4.88-5.13 gears depending on the tire size. Mid 10's 125 mph in 1/4 mile.

A solid roller will push you to 650+ hp w/ alky :evil:

Wow,

Thanks guys. I was hoping to get around 500 or so. It's going into a stripped down 81 z28 that I bought over 20 years ago. My son and I are building it together. I have put in a 4.88 posi, frame connectors, ladder bars, solid body mounts, drag shocks and front springs. I have a 400turbo going into the shop for a complete over haul. I have taken some time to wire wheel the frame and under body and repainted, it looks brand new. We have gutted the inside and are putting in a 8 point roll cage. What a fun project. Other adders that I have to bolt on to the engine are a milodon gear drive, electric water pump, a 4 stage dry sump oil system and a msd ignition.
