Not really a hot rod, but i have an 86 Dodge D50 with a mitsubishi engine......and I need to know how to properly prime the oil pump or system?......any suggestions would be greatly appreciated THANKS
I do not know anything about this engine.. Is the oil pump driven by the distributor, or a idler gear... Or is it burried in the block some place where you cannot get to it????
You can remove the timing belt and fab up a tool to just spin the oil pump. Prime the engine and then install the timing belt.
Or you will need a pressurized system. Like a air tank. fill it half way with oil. The you will need to find a tap on the motor to install the line from the tank. In effect what you would be doing is blowing the oil through the engine.
i personally would do the first one...
