I just started cleaning up my work area for my El Camino which i have sold. I was sorting through the shelf and found a differential with a ring gear and a pinion gear in a box. I purchased about 4 diffentials (7.625 GM 10 bolt with 26 spline axles)

I shattered my posi way back last year (on this site somewhere). I know what the clutchpacks and preload springs shouldn't look like. (http://hotrodders.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27573)

I looked inside of the carrier and saw some springs and clutch packs. I didn't play much with limited slip and have never seen a limited slip differential. Could this be a limited slip or a posi. Are there any real ways to tell the two apart?

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

The limited slip on my 89 Silverado has clutch discs. I should know I rebuilt it a few years ago
