My name is Fred and I live in Houston, Texas. I've been into hot rods ever since I saw American Grafitti when it came out in '73. ( yea, old guys rule)
Well, for the most part all I ever did was read the mags, go to shows and catch a rod run or two when I could. Then around August, I started noticing all the Rat Rods popping up. While it's not my bag, I fell in love with the philosophy of just building a nice car that was meant to be a driver and not a show queen, trophy magnet. Now, I love the show cars, but they always made me think you couldn't build a rod unless it had about 2 tons of chrome on it.
So, I started a T bucket and I'm having the time of my life. It's always been a favorite of mine and I'm glad to finally be not one of those guys who just reads the mags and dreams.
All I have done is the basic chassis, but I'm expecting to have the front in done by Christmas. I have a strict budget, so I have to go in steps that I have planned out.
Well, I guess that's it as far as me is concerned. I'm looking forward to getting input and giving any I may have if it will help someone else. I've worked on my own cars all my life and I think I may have a couple tricks up my sleeve.
