I bought a devilbiss finishline hvlp paint gun from harbor freight about 3 years ago but I did not like results I got from it. Mine came with 1.6 and 1.8 tips which seem to big to me. Now I see the new finishline model has a 1.4 tip and I would like to know if this is what I need and where I might find one for my older gun.

1.6 and 1.8 tips are usually used for high build primer/surfacers. Any Auto paint supply house should be able to order a 1.4 tip for you. I don't know the price of the tips for the DeVillbis guns but the set up that I recently bought for one of my Sata guns cost $125. You might find a used one on EBay with the tip you want at a resonable price and keep the other one for primer.
