I broke a stud on my back halved Monza It has a 12 bolt with C clip eliminators & som large finned drums. There is no slot front or rear for the star adjuster. I have been heating & beating & nothing, I cant remove the axel because the c clip eliminator is behind the drum.
I have heated & used Ice in the axel stub, that allowed it to move a millemeter I am at a loss any advice will be appreciated

Some drums are not punched at the factory for the brake adjusters but there are kidney been indentations on the drums that will punch out with a hammer and punch look hard and you may see them ! If your drums dont have these you can drill a hole in the face of the drum large enough to get an adjuster in or a screw driver ( in line with the star wheel) look at an old drum if your not sure of the placement or if you have room you can drill the backing plate in some instances!

I have actually drilled the outer face of the drum between the studs then tapped the hole with a bottoming tap and jack screwed them off. You wont strength wise hurt the drum or the axle flange.

Cut the holddown pins off at the back of the backing plate, then the drum will pull forward enough to get to the adjuster to back it down.You'll be ale to pull the drum off far enough to get to the adjuster between the backing pate and drum flange

I drilld a slot in the drum, got to the star wheel, loosend it to the max and nothing, it is a finned aluminum drun, truck drum? Buick? I have part number on inside I will post later

So I drilled another hole oposide , put my puller in it & it popped off the axel, seems that its a press fit on the axel end when I put it back on I had to press it on teh axel. loading the trailer now thanks again.

Made the finals!!!

wow what a day at Atlanta Dragway. I finished the brake deal late friday. Got up at 6 Finished the corner balance( or scaling) & was loaded up by 9am.

It was the Big Nite of Fire Fireworks race in the Summit series, so it usually brings out a lot of non regulars so there are points to be won.

The weather was crazy. Atlanta is 1150 feet ASL and normal density altitude for this time of year is 3000 feet. Saturday my first run was 104 degrees ambient, 136 track temp and 4727 DA with 5005 ft OA! car ran off .25 slower than last week but it did it both time runs so I went with it.

Run # 1 113.7 degrees ambiant! 5474 feet DA. 147 track temp It was crazy.

End result I was looking for a one and done just to get some points and made it to the final. Got my first .000 reaction time in competition earning me the bye run in the quarter finals. Semis had a great .003 and in the finals got off with a .002 to a .043 but blew the tires off it, by this time the weather was in the high 90's but the jet cars blew a lot of the rubber of the track and I knew 20 feet out of the gate that it was over. Probably picked up 5 positions in points & I was came in at 8th. Any way you look at it getting home at 1:30 am is a good thing.

Thank you all so much for the advice and giving me the ideas to press on regardless. Im so glad I did.

Oh, to top it off, my fuel pump died taking it off the trailer this morning.
