I am tired of 4 cylinders!

for the past year I've been driving my '83 Buick Skylark 2.5l 4 banger with 90HP stock, probably 80-85 now..

But I'm sick of it, It's a guttless wonder, I want something that when I step on the gas it actually does something instead of crying ouch! stop please! you're hurting me!

I our family has a '73 Chevelle Malibu Perl green 4-DR with a built 350 V8 in it. It's currently sitting in front of our house with two scored cylinders. When it ran, it was terrible, it would eat through gas and spark plugs like mad!

It's supposed to be mine, but we have other car projects to get out of the way first before we can work on it... I plan to have it by summer, but if i'm at all lucky that'll happen. More realistically by the end of this year though...

I guess this is just a rant thread.. I'm tired of my buick, I respect it for what is is, a good gas mileage car. But I want a fun car, something I can go out in and burn rubber in and such. My friends have powerful cars and I'm stuck with this buick...

Whew, well got that off my chest. Sorry about that guys. I've just waited for ever and ever for that car, I know I'm a little closer to getting it but, I guess I'll just have to keep waiting...

We have it running pretty good now and it gets 23-26MPG depending on how it's driven..... ;)

But it's still GUTLESS! and I still don't like it :(

If your gonna ditch it at least have some fun with it. Get some cheap scrap tubing, weld it together so it looks at least a bit like a rollcage and put it in. Take the exhaust off completely and then go junk it in a big field with lotsa jumps:thumbup:

Hey, dont knock those GM 2.5's (Iron duke) They are 4in bore x 3in stroke(If I remember right) so dont knock them, they have alot of performance potential for a daily driver.

My 2.6L 4 banger pumps out 150FT lbs and 120hp stock. With a 3000 pound amigo and 5.33's in the back it is sometimes a blast to drive. When first gear wants to work that is.

I'm not ditching it and can't destroy it, because it's going to my brother when he's old enough to drive.

I don't HATE it, I just tire of it some days, like I took it for a spin tonight and enjoyed it. I has pretty good acceleration at lower speeds, up to about 45-50. Then it slows down a bit.

Like I say, I CANNOT WAIT for the chevy, it's going to be a blast to drive!

Tomorrow I get to drive a friend's 70's Ford Ranchero with a 351 Winzor V8 :D Fun times in that thing! We just put a new coil and plug wires in it to stop the bucking above 60MPH..

Still can't wait for V8!!! :(

Gas saving engines?

Don't have any experience with the 4 cylinder cars but can't say anything bad about the GM V6 or V8's either.

I had a 1988 Chevrolet Nova (anyone who has had one can tell you it IS NOT a Chevy but in fact a Toyota to the fullest with only Chevy clothing) and that thing got 25+ miles to the gallon ALL the time.

It was great.

The thing was slower than hell, but you could rip around a corner in that little front wheel drive bucket at 60 mph without losing a beat, lol.

You could NEVER roast the tires in it... But I had a cool stereo in it, which made the car really funny to drive, so all of my friends ended up loving the little car.

You could put 5 bucks in it and take 4 people anywhere you wanted all day, and the thing had some serious bass so it was funny to pull up to hot cars at stoplights and while they're revving their motor I'm slumping my stereo, lol.
