Hi, I'm working on a 455 for my 71 olds convertable, the 350 runs great, but its got 100k, so I got a used, running 455, good compression, no leaks, started pulling it apart, now wondering what's the best approach to an economical daily driver. I figured to change the oil pump, timing chain/gears. Bottom end looks good, maybe a new intake.

What to do ???

I hear ya, it's a '72, has the dished pistons, lower compression ratio, but it should still push 340-350HP stock. The compression came out 165-170 PSI over all the cylinders. I wasn't looking to do a rebuild. So I was thinking about leaving the bottom end alone, add a cam, new EDL 2151 performer intake, and either go with a Holley 850 double pump, or stick with the Quadrajet. This motor has the Ga heads, fitting for a '72, big enough valves, but I'm not sure about spending another 1500 for new Mondello heads.
