Hi.

My father was the owner of a 72 Rally Nova. It was a huge project for him. He painted it Canairy Yellow with the black Rally stripe on the sides. The paint however has started to rust and will need to be re-done. The engine is good and running, however I do not the details of the engine. This is the biggest problem: the interior. Before his death in April '03, he purchased a back seat bench for the backseat. The fornt two seats arn't bolted down and as of now the back bench is just in the back.

Since he has passed, the car has just sat up and rusted even more. I want to have the car completly restored, however, I am no mechanic and have no desire to be (no offence).

I am looking for a place to make the can look and run like my dad always dreamed.

Any thoughts or advise will be most helpfull.

Finding a good shop is a big challenge as most commercial body shops just do crash repairs anymore. Ask around at car shows, ask friends and family for any recommendations. Get references from any shop you talk to. There are a couple around here that I could comfortably recommend but they are pretty far from Oregon.

Please study the information Jeff Lilly has on his web site. I don't know them nor anyone who has had work done there but he does a nice job of laying out what to expect in a restoration. It is good information

A good way to get this done is through a local high school or community college. Talk to them and they can take the car as a learning project. Heck, you may even want to donate it to them in your dads name..............that would be a nice rememberance.
