Sorry if this is covered somewhere else. My HVLP gun has 2 tips in the box: 1.3 and 2.0. Is the 1.3 OK for epoxy or is it too small? Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the data sheet on the epoxy? It will tell you the closest approximation for the tip and your gun to get the best results. Yes it will spray but maybe not with the transfer efficiency you're expecting if it is too small a tip.

The tech sheet says 1.3 to 1.8, at 8-10 psi. Just wondering if the 1.3 is too small.

I think with that on the tech sheet, I'd run with the 1.3. The 2.0 would be drooling and slobbering probably. The 1.3 will break up the material more for a smoother finish.

1.3mm should be fine for epoxy primer.

I sprayed the epoxy with the 1.3 yesterday. Worked great. Then moved onto the 2k urethane primer...tech sheet says 1.4 to 1.7 tip. The 1.4 clogged up immediately. Next largest size I have is a 2.0, so I used that. Worked fine. I see a few imperfections in the body work (pin-holes, a small inclusion here and there). Is it OK to use a glazing putty to fix these blemishes on top of the 2k urethane primer? Thanks again guys! :welcome:

next time rub it into the pinhole and shoot over it.

Don't use the air dry glazing putty (red stuff), it sands at a different rate than 2K primer. Evercoat has a dynamite catalyzed glazing putty IMHO.
