Wow, nice to see some level-headed political debate. Also glad to see that no one has managed to get past the basic Rush Limbaugh "talking points" being issued by the incumbents campaign.
How about a massive federal deficit which will cripple this nation for decades? See also: health care, social security, education.
Deficit is a smaller part of the GNP htan in the 50s.
How about driving this country further apart politically than any president in memory?
If the press said ANYTHING postive about Mr Bush, maybe he would have a better reputation.
How about not taking responsibility for anything during his tenure? Jobs, the economy - either past democrat issues or a result of 9/11.
Unemployment is lower than it has been in almost 20 years, The growth in the economy has sustained at a pace grater than any in 20 years
How about going to war for a bunch of BS reasons and alienating decades old allies. WMD's - nope. Imminent threat - wrong. Ties to Al Quaida - don't think so.
There are 80 allies in the current coalition. The big ones that did not participate have proven to have clandestine and illegal financial ties to the previous Iraqui regime.
How about cutting taxes while waging a war that is costing the US billions every month. Billions every month. Hello inflation.
Inflation is at record lows in recent times, as are interest rates with no sign of worsening.
How about enforced morality from the federal government, vis a vis using a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. This furthers the Bush administrations goals of abolishing the seperation of church and state. Name one other amendment which denies rights. There WAS only one, XVIII which was prohibition... that was a complete disaster until overturned by the XXIst Amendment.
Law IS morality. Laws are instituted to allow people to cohabitate profitably and +60% of the population see a negative impact on society from changing the millenia old institution of marriage. One can argue that the Roe vs. Wade interpretation denies 5 million or so cticzens the right to life which is fairly serious I would say
How about the VP making more money for Haliburton now than when he worked for them.
Please define this Mr. Cheney was forced to divest all of his Halliburton stock when he took the VP job. Incidentally, if Halliburton is such a profitable corp now, I assume your stock portfolio is filled with their stock.
How about 1,000+ dead and overtaxed reservists because Rumsfeld thinks going in with a small force and no exit strategy is better than the overwhelming force and clear exit strategy advised by every senior military official, including Colin Powell.
? Sounds like a wild AlGore talking point!!
How about the systemic manuvering to increase the powers of the presidency in conflict with constitutional checks and balances - for example, the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay and the decision that we do not need to honor the Geneva Convention when dealing with suspected terrorists. See articles 5 and 6 of the Constitution.
Please give a detailed list of the freedoms you have lost in the past two years with concrete examples.
How about John Ashcroft using Patriot Act I and II to deny civil liberties to American citizens and subvert the 4th Amendment.
Please give a detailed list of the freedoms you have lost in the past two years with concrete examples.
Ben Franklin said it best: those who would sacrifice liberty to gain security deserve neither.
You mean like free health care, free food stamps, free housing, etc.?
