are you talking tough?

The th350 can be built but the th400 I believe is the toughest. Then you find aftermarket racing transmissions too...Look in a drag racing or circle track racing mag to find help.

I did a quick reference on an internet search engine, and in the first 10 resulting found matches there is reference to an automatic with overdrive, a four speed manual truck transmission, and a three speed automatic transmission.
There was also a reference to a dog obedience training site.

It sounds more like a slang term for a heavy duty transmission.

It also sounds like there are different veiwpoints on what some people consider heavy duty.

Around here a bulldog tans is slang for a ford trans with a low gear that is only used when in a bind. For example if you are on a hill with a very heavy load.

GM's versions of that would be either the SM-420 or SM-465.
