Just a question -- I've seen some aftermarket Jaguar style axles with just one shock on each side. Any reason two are required? Could I just modify the lower shock mount (it's a long steel rod) or use a spacer and run one shock on each side? I'm about ready for new shocks and dreading buying four...

So long as you get the same damping force, one is fine.

(There very possibly could be a reduction in bushing life due to the imbalanced loading. Understand, this is nothing catastrophic. After all, the car has to function reasonably after 1 of the 2 shocks has gone south. Use your own judgement.)

Or, you could adapt 6 to each side and look realllly cool!:) :)

Thanks for the comments. I'll probably look for replacement shocks. I'm already running a Jag IRS in my 63 Rambler. It's in the photo album, and there is a pic of the axle as I'm installing it in the car.
