how do you know when your stall converter kicks in

Just curious
I have a 350 chevy i changed the heads and cam don't know what my stall converter stall limit is, when I floor the throttle the tires seem like they are spinning but i don't hear no screeching sound , just a spinning noise, does the tork converter stall out the engine when it hits it,s limit like 1500 rpms? how do they work!

Tried to do new post I put this in the wrong place sorry .tried to delete but cant I am also disapointed in comp cams performance my car runs about the same as before i installed my comp cam.

This cable adjustment effects the internal transmission pressures, and shift points.

I just witnessed a transmission builder chewing out the owner of the engine builder/installer today, about the transmission only lasting for 25 miles, and the kick down cable bracket being wrong for the setup.

I pulled the throttle all the way back to full throttle and adjusted the kickdown so it was just reaching at full throttle.It jumps into passing gear if I am going 2,000 rpm and punch it. Is that good? how does a stall converter work? when does it kick in?

A stall converter, say rated at 3000 RPM should allow you to rev the engine easily until you reach it's RPM rating. It then should 'grab' and go.

Your cable adjustment sounds correct.

What RPM is the engine running, when you first take off from a stop, before it starts moving?

Have you double checked the fluid level in your transmission? It could have looked full when you were filling it up, from the fluid still running down the dip stick tube.

Just a thought.

so let me try to figure this out a stall converter works like if my car is at a stop and I punch the gas,the engine will rev to 3000 rpms then start to move the car?
when I stop at a light the I am Idling at 600 or 700 rpm /
fluid is good.

On the street, a 3000 stall speed converter will start to load the engine lesser than the 3000 RPM. Closer between 1800, and 2300 RPM. You will not feel it's full effect, until 3000 RPM though. It's much like slipping the clutch on a standard transmission.

When you take off normally, much like having a cop right behind you, at what RPM does the car start to move forward?

as soon as i hit the gas ,but when I punch it it sounds likeit is slipping and then starts going around 2000 rpmsI will have to try and see.
