I don't have a kickdown switch for my turbo 400. I also don't have any brackets.

I do have one orange wire coming out of the driver side of the transmission.

Would it work if I just pick up a micro switch at the local electrical supply and fab up a bracket under the gas pedal?

I'm in the same boat. I was going to either mount a switch somewhere handy where I could just hit with my finger or do what you're thinking. Classic Parts has a lever type brake light switch in their catalog that I was thinking of using near the gas pedal.

I just ended up ordering the bracket and switch for the gas pedal from yearone.com.

I have run them without the switch, manually downshifted when needed.
