I'm working on a 1970 Monte Carlo, cutting out the panel between the trunk and the rear window. I've noticed that the seams are filled with lead and I am concerned about the toxicity of removing it, as my small kids play in the garage a lot.
I have been using a cutoff wheel to cut the panel out so far. But I'm thinking that the cutoff wheel will through little chunks of lead everywhere. Should I heat the lead out with a torch or will this warp my panels or be more toxic?
Thanks for the help.
