So I just got my c4 corvette IFS on my 56 chevy shortbed, installed using the progressive kit ! and I kno the ideal thing would be to put the c4 irs in too but trying to spread my money out and going to college next fall too. I want to get disc brakes in the rear as well. So if I buy a 10 or 12 bolt rear axle how should I set it up? with 4 link or coil overs ? leaf springs? trying to figure out what would be the most economical to do. maybe 500 bucks, no more than a 1,000

Jaguar Independent rear suspension comes with all the disks and calipers and everything just find one that been in accident are something you can find them for like $500 If you look hard then take the rest of car to scrap for $50-$100 depends on scrap value. Just an Idea

yea I pulled a jaguar suspension out of my 74 XJ12L its sittin in the garage lol
I thought about it but in the long run im going to go with the C4 corvette dana 44 irs
i hit a curb in my jag and got 3,300 from insurance
took the rear irs out and towed it to a wrecking yard and got 550 bucks for the car. pretty sweet deal lol

Im just looking for something simple to run until the money comes for vette irs
this is my rookie project so just trying to figure out what a simple setup would be for the rear in the mean time.

what are my options of mounting a straight axle? like as far as pinon supports, or 4 link setup or coil overs

well If your not going permanent I'd just go with leaf springs way easier and cheaper then a 4-link alot less work to but the 4-link is way cooler then leaf springs you could also do a 2 link setup with coil overs or do triangulated 4 link so you won't need a pan-hard but there's lots of options to choose from just how much work do u wanna do just to cut back out basically maybe try finding a vette thats been in the accident for cheap and use the IRS you could probably almost get your money back after taking it to scrap if you got that much for a jaguar, corvettes are fiberglass so maybe not but why do the work twice and it cost way more to put the 4-link in and cut it out then put the IRS in way less labour to. Its up to you how much money you wanna waste basicly

yah I got a 48 merc (ford) pickup with mustang IFS in the front and just leafs in the back and it just clears a speed bumb in the front the back has an inch or 2 more clearance but I was told 3 inches is anough travel for the rear suspension travel if u have less then that you'll have to c notch it and just how low do wanna go if you go to low you won't even be able to go mcdonalds are anything inless you get airbags which is even more money lol Don't louse hope eventually you'll see why you spend all that money once your driving it down the road

There are a few cheap disk brake swaps that you can do from the junkyard.
Assuming you are going with the 5 on 5 pattern in the rear you can use Impala rear rotors(around 1996) and 4th gen Camaro calipers. also Jeep Grand Cheorokees went to the 5 on 5 pattern around 2001 IIRC
