:) Happy holidays to all. My question? Can excess oil threw
lifters, pushrods, rocker arms cause a drop in oil pressure? I changed from Edel. to Doug H lifters @ had 10 to 15 lb. drop
in pressure. This may sound "weird" but its a fact.  All coments :welcome: :welcome: As always hotrodders BB is

Possibly...............maybe, the lifters are slightly looser in the bores, or dont pump up the same.

Same cam?

What is the oil pressure now?...Is it still 40# or so?

Why did you change the lifters, were they damaged?
P-62 Lifters had a stamped type retainer. (not horse shoe wire ring) 2 cracked @ 5 broke and came off. thats the reason
for changing lifters. Oil pressure is 60lb cold start up. hot ingine is
10lb. idle 850rpm 40+ 2400rpm or about 60mph.

I also see w\valve cover off oil streaming through roller rocker
arms (more than with the other lifters) lotts more

  I have never heard of this happing before.
But i guess anything is possible. :smash: :nono:

Pressures sound pretty normal for a SB Chevy........Flow through the rockers show it is flowing well. Sounds like your old lifters were restricting flow a bit, causing higher pressures...

I wouldn't worry about it.

P-62 This kind of eases my mind a tad. I was afraid I might
be having bearing problems. When I first had a lifter problem,
I called Vic and told his "techs" what I thought of their knew
style lifters. The only satisfaction I got was, I told them what I thought :smash: :smash: I have built a 283, 327, and (2)
350 sbc's. never had this kind of problem before :) :) :)

Grumpy Jenkins once said oil flow was more important than pressure. If you have flow, things are getting fresh lubricant.

I have seen many a sbc and bbc run with 5 to 10 lbs pressure at idle and run 35 to 60 cruzin.
