did hurst ever make the lighting rod shifter for
other cars?
you know like a after market item.
i want to use them on my 81 z28 with a th350

Yes, the Original Lightning Rods had four handles. Not the three handles like the ones used in the Hurst Olds cars.

I sold a Hurst Lightning Rod shifter on Ebay last spring. It was an original, set up for Camaro-Nova with th-400 trans. I got tons of E-mail about the extra arm, as very few people had ever seen the real original.

I ran Lightning Rods in my Demon, and have a new set for my Coupe. I sold a few Lightning Rod shifters at swap meets over the years as well.
I have never seen a "four handles" Lightning Rod shifter?
Mine have three rods, P-R-N-3 then 3-2 then 2-1.
I sold my Demon to a local guy who phoned to tell me the tranny had packed it in, he said it was stuck in forward gear.
The shifters need to be shifted in order, he had the car in first gear, and was trying to run the right hand stick up through to reverse. It wasn't going to happen until he moved the two right hand rods first.
If you are familiar with them, they are simple shifters, but sometimes they can be a pain in the butt getting used to?
