Looking for a shop out of Orange Co.CA. preferably that still paints lacquer. My 70 Rallye-350 will require adding a $800 decal kit
and I have seen to many 2 stage paint jobs break down. I guess and alternate would be in enamel.
I believe that it is still acceptable to paint other than 2 stage in San Diego. Domenic

Lacquer is illegal to sell in California. If you find a shop that will do it, they are flirting with a LONG stint in prison. This is VERY SERIOUS tree hugger stuff! You had better hurry and get a 2-stage job before they mandate water based paints. You think I am kidding about that last comment but I am dead serious. It is coming.

Actually, a quality PPG or Dupont color/clear coat paint job is so superior to any lacquer or enamel job, I wouldn't consider anything else. Put a QUALITY 2 stage job and the best lacquer job in the same environment and the former will leave the lacquer in the dust.

Your only other alternative is to go to Nevada and have the job done there.

I know the factory paint job horror stories you are thinking of. Those are usually early clear coat jobs on cars that have been generally abused by their owners. Materials have improved immensely since those early days and clears are now rock tough, especially for a car that is kept waxed and garaged.
