Well i'm back.

Finally got the truck to fire up. but now it says i'm running about 10 psi of oil so i shut it down. It is idleing rough and its about 40 or so outside. I just finished putting all types of parts on... Cap, rotor, muffler and piping, rebuilt carburetor, air cleaner.

When i tried to rev my motor it will go to what i guess is about 2500 or so and it takes forever but it used to go up to a scream instantly.

it was running fine til the carb was rebuilt but no it does this could i have mixed something up?

thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

(i'm telling everyone the car gods hate me .:boxing: )

Hey, if the car gods actually hated you, your truck wouln't be running at all! ROFL There are those of us that simply have horrible luck! I am proof of that!!! :)

OK so about the oil pressure, couple questions.

How much pressure did it have before? When did you last have this truck running? Was it warm outside then? What kind of oil (grade) are you running in it? Heavy oil thickens up in the cold and takes a little while sometimes to come up.

and lastly, what kind of truck is this?

I once drove a '63 F-250 w/ a 360cid. for 2 years running on 6 pounds of oil pressure at an idle. When you put oil in it, you could watch it run back out of the head gaskets! lol I miss that old ford! I ran 20-50 in it and put a bottle of motor honey in it every week.

When you can't afford to fix it right, then do the next best thing...whatever it takes to keep it running!

Doc here :pimp:

Check your PCV valve, is it Dirty or stuck ? It would do exactly what you say if it were.

If it were stuck open, It would idle like crap in a can, because you would have a big vacuum leak.

It would take forever to get up to speed until the Vacuum dropped and overcame the leak...

AND it would Suck oil Straight into the induction system accounting for The Blue Grey smoke...

On your jets, Carefully turn them all the way in and then back them out 3 turns (6 half turns) and It should run reasonably well until you can track down the other problems..and make sure your choke is hooked up and working properly.

Then Adjust the jets for Highest idle without random stumble, or miss or random "Pop" out the pipes...and monitor the exhaust for raw fuel smell. Allow 15 or better seconds after making an adjustment on either jet for the engine to stabilize , I.E. Take your time! (or you will tune right through the "Sweet Spot")

I found the "vacuum leak" on the left side of the butterflies, it now sprays gas out of there, and i took it back apart it isn't fixable, so i'm just going to have to pick up a new carburetor today.

Thanks for the help everyone.
