LT4 hot cam dowel pin adjust

I need to "push in" the dowel pin on my newly purchased lt4 hot cam from it's current .625" length to .30". Scoggin-Dickey Chev. would not perform this operation for me. Will someone tell me how to do this? Thanks.

Why are you using a cam button with a LT4 hot cam? These cams are for use in 1987 and later factory roller cam blocks as well as LT1 and LT4 engines that have a cam retainer plate. So I`m a bit confused, are you using it in a non roller block? Need more info.

My terminology was wrong. According to directions, "For l98 engines (mine is a '91 w/roller cam) the dowel pin in the end of the camshaft must be pushed in so extension from end of cam is .30", the same as production part". I need to know how to do this.

I tapped the dowel pin in with a small hammer, so I'm good to go. Thanks, anyway.
