I have an engine block that has experienced hydrolock due to a blown turbo. It is off a VW 4 cyl turbodiesel has and bent rods 2 and 3. Is it a given that the block and crank be magnfluxed before they are reused?
Its a good idea that anytime your engine has sustained any damage that might disrupt the integrety of the block, to have it magnafluxed. Better to spend the bucks to know if you have a good block or not than to spend a lot more to rebuild and then find out its a boat anchor.
