I have a four speed that is making a howling noise at idle. was a fresh rebuilt by a well known trans. shop when installed. about 1500 miles on it now. it was shipped in a crate, and dropped. front shaft went thru the plywood container. seemed ok inside and out but after 4 years it developed a squeel until you let the clutch out. first thought was a throw out bearing and replaced. noticed pilot shaft had alot of play in it. have never taken apart a tranny, does this sound like bearing issues? trans. works in all gears and is quiet running until you push the clutch in.
