i have a 72 d-100 dodge pick up and it has stock torsion bars running up front currently theres no options so i figure my best bet is the mustang ifs but it seems even using 6 inch extension of metal to drop the ifs lower to the ground and my frame up higher i may not get the adjustablity i want my truck sits about 7 inchs up from the top of my tire and id like to run airbags to get it on the frame once and a while but ifs systems dont seem to have the much adjustabilty in the control arms i found a couple ifs systems thatll be wide enough to look stock hub to hub but 5 grand seems like a bit much even though there chromed and have rack and pinon i dont care for the chrome but they dont have a option i emailed they said chrome control arms only and didnt answer questions on adjustablity. id like a rougher finish so i could do the paint and ill have to fab it anyhow to fit under it but rack and pinon id like id rather not spend more than 2 grand on a front set up because air ride will take some of my budget and a xj jag irs will take another portion plus the 4 link and other suspension and brake parts. also is there any big brake kits for mustang ifs and xj rears

Have you thought about looking at a 80's dodge diplomat and that platform of vehicle. The whole front end drops out in a cradle and has adjustable torsion bars to change the ride height. I saw this on several 50's fords a few years ago.

The advantage to using the setup I suggested is that it has the engine mounting pads (which would still be in the mopar line) and from everything I saw on it all you did was notch the frame in a few places and weld it in. Just research it and see what I'm talkin about, If I get a chance I'll see if I can find an article on it and I'll post the link.I promise it looks fairly straight forward and they were using it alot a few years ago. the 80's diplomat doesnt look like it has springs just shocks and torsion bars and from shock position air ride may be alot more hack than worth to those control arms i dont wanna reduce there integrity i also talk to a couple friends running air ride on late sixtys and early 70s impalas and they seem to have issues with torsion bar bushings cracking too often.
i did get pointed out however that my dodge doesnt have a sway bar so perhaps i dont have torsion bars persay perhaps there what dodge used has sway bars i dont think if i disconnected them id really drop it perhaps alittle because now theres no load like if i were to remove a sway bar ill disconnect one and if it seems to damage my suspension with to much camber or toe or just throws off its geometry to much ill put it on if not ill source a sway bar thatlly fit and retrofitt it to my truck than a air ride set up is cake.
